leaving soon

I’ll be leaving for the airport in about 10 hours. It’s unlikely I’ll get any sleep during that time. Although I’m pretty much finished packing (got my pack down to about 30 pounds, even with my stupid laptop and other computer junk I need to bring), I still need to do some more work on my tutorial before printing it out and leaving a copy for my advisor in the morning. I’m quite the sleepy bastard lately, and it’s amusing to observe the cognitive deficiencies with which my sleep deprivation has blessed me. My flight leaves around noon tomorrow (Thursday, July 31), and I’ll arrive in London at 8:15am (London time; a little after midnight Phoenix time) on Friday morning. I’m going to be staying at the Piccadilly Backpackers Hotel in London, which is in or near Soho. I’ve decided to stay in the hostel during my first stop in London because I want to experience the fun, party hostel atmosphere in London and because my friend Jav has a pretty busy schedule this weekend, anyway. I’ll probably still meet up with Jav at some point this weekend, and will stay at his place when I return to London (at the end of my trip). In preparation for my grand journey, I got my hair cut today. It’s short and sassy, just how I like my beeyatches. Ha! Just kidding. Remember, I’m sleep deprived and can’t be held responsible for what I write. The hair is short, though, and should be nice and low-maintenance for my travels. I was thinking about just shaving my head again before I left, but didn’t want to be mistaken for a skinhead or something. I’ll probably shave my head when I get back. Hmmm…perhaps I’ll have a “Eric returns from Europe and wants to bore you with his stories and photos while he shaves his head” party. That would kick ass.
